Comments to the replies to the to Letter to the Editor 'Validity and reliability of the Nintendo Wii Balance Board for assessment of standing balance' by R.A. Clark et al. [Gait & Posture 31 (2010) 307-310]: are the conclusions stated by the authors justified?'

As pointed out by Reed-Jones in her commentary, the original article by Clark et al. is quickly becoming a standard citation justifying the Nintendo Wii Balance Board (WBB) for balance assessment. On the central issue of our original Letter to the Editor all com-menters have expressly agreed that for several reasons a WBB should not and cannot in general be considered a replacement for laboratory-grade force platforms (FPs). In other words, there seems to be a consensus that the conclusion, based solely on experimental data in specific conditions and without considering all the issues involved, that the WBB is interchangeable with gait FPs is not valid. There also seems to be an agreement that in specific circumstances a WBB can be used to produce valid results.
