Pig Meat: Situation and Outlook

High feed costs, disease outbreaks and exchange rates have affected pig production and trade throughout 2007. Reduced cereal harvests and competition from the biofuels industry have resulted in a rise in feed costs across the world. Without a significant rise in pig prices this may lead to a number of producers, particularly in the ED, exiting the industry.
