[Cd_2(4,4'-bipy)_2(H_2O)_3(SO_4)_2] centre dot 3H_2O: a novel three-dimensional coordination polymer with nonlinear optical properties

摘要

The three-dimensional coordination polymer [Cd_2(4,4'-bipy)_2(H_2O)_3(SO_4)_2] centre dot 3H_2O (1) was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of 4,4'-bipyridine with CdSO_4.8/3H_2O in 1:1 mole ratio in a sealed tube at 120 deg C. The compound was characterized by FT-IR, diffuse reflectance UV-Vis, X-ray powder diffraction and single crystal X-ray analysis. The structure features three-dimensional, interwoven networks. Semiquantitative Kurtz-Perry powder measurements showed that 1 possesses a second-order harmonic generation efficiency of ca. 27% of potasium dihydrogen phosphate.
