摘要

Fibre contacts are fundamentally important in determining the mechanical properties of fibrous assemblies. In this paper, an overview of application of fibre contact theory to predict the tensile and compressional characteristics of thermally bonded nonwovens has been presented. These structures are subjected to tension and compression during their end-use in various technical and industrial applications. The approach has been demonstrated successfully by combining the proven theories available in the literature. A comparison is also made between the theoretical and experimental results.
