Fractal Phenomenon in Micro-Flow through a Fiber Bundle

摘要

Moisture transport in fiber assembly is one of the critical factors affecting physiological comfort. It is useful to model bundle structure for understanding micro-flow in complex geometries representative of the void spaces formed between fibers. This paper investigated the relationship between structure of fiber bundle and the vertical wicking height. The results show that both the structure of fiber bundle and the flow rate in fiber bundle have fractal characteristic, which can be respectively related to two or three fractal parameters, and the vertical wicking height in fiber bundle is approximately linear proportion to the two structure fractal dimension of fiber bundle and the maximum wicking height grows linearly with increasing of area fractal dimension or decreasing of tortuosity fractal dimension.
