Hagen Stehr AO of Port Lincoln.Since my arrival in Australia some 54 years ago, the fishing industry has been in continual battles for survival in one way or another.As an industry, we have grown to expect negativity from Canberra most of the time. But at the state level, in South Australia, we have generally had close co-operation and support from governments on both sides of the equation. Until now.Recently,state politicians have been passing laws and regulations without considering the consequences. Their management practices leave much to be desired, and, moreover, these politicians are not performing their duties adequately for the general public. This is the scenario in South Australia concerning the contentious marine parks issue.
