摘要

Nucleation, growth, and habit of solution-grown molecular crystals are strongly affected by the nature of the solvent and the presence of molecular additives. This is primarily a result of the interaction between the "foreign" molecules and the crystal faces. The effect of such interactions on the structure of the crystal was deduced from knowledge of the crystal structure and macroscopic properties such as morphology and symmetry of the resulting crystal, but it has not been possible to observe thesurface-bound "foreign" molecules directly.
