摘要

Clusters of transition metal carbonyls with the Group 16 element tellurium have been studied extensively in recent years. A wide variety of cluster compounds have been produced. Complexes with polytelluride ligands as well as those in which the tellurium center possesses bonds to halide ions are also known. We have recently reported the synthesis of some interesting complexes between tellurium chloride and iron carbonyl from the reaction of 1 with SO_2C1_2 and are pursuing reactions of clusters of main group elements and transition metals, containing other halogenated molecules We now report that reaction of 1 with CBr_4 leads ultimately to the unusual tellurium -iron carbide cluster 3.
