摘要

The development of organic materials for optical data storage and molecular optical devices requires components whose physical properties can be modulated by light. For a few bistable molecular systems based on photocyclization reactions impressive results have been obtained. So far the bistable molecules are detected primarily by UV/Vis spectroscopy (photochromism), although detection based on changes in other properties such as refractive index and conductivity is also successfully employed.
