摘要

The design of organic and inorganic programmed systems that self-assemble into well-defined architectures is a major current research theme in supramolecular chemistry. Ligands containing suitable binding sites in a correct arrangement may be read bymetal ions following the algorithm defined by their coordination geometry, thus spontaneously generating as output the desired inorganic architecture. In the area of self-assembled inorganic complexes our work has been concerned with several types of systems: double- and triple-helical complexes, helicates. based on tetrahcdral and octahedral metal centers, respectively, multicomponcnt cylindrical cage complexes,' and grid-type arrays of metal ions.
