Nanotubes,and in particular carbon nanotubes,are important functional materials for technological innovations.Nanotubular structures can be formed by the self-assembly of organic compounds and biological materialsj such as the tobacco mosaic virus coat protein,and cyclic D,L-peptides such as gramicidin A and its analogues.
