Accumulation of phenolic compounds in cell cultures of the apple cultivar'Alkmene' [German]

Cell suspension cultures derived from apple tissues of the cultivar 'Alkmene' (Malus domestica) were examined. Both cultures accumulated chlorogenic acid, derivatives of ferulic and sinapic acid, as well as flavanols, from which epicatechin and the procyanidins B2, B5, and C1 could be identified. The latter have not been described in apple cell cultures so far.
