Regulating and producing interpersonal relationships requires nonverbal bodily means. These means are predominantly used unconsciously (procedural relational knowing). For the treatment of interpersonal disorders, such as severe personality disorders or structural deficits it is necessary to therapeutically reach this unconscious relational knowing of the patient. Procedural relational knowing cannot be "translated" into words and is therefore not able to be interpreted. Interpreting and thus making unconscious relational experiences and their repetition in present relationships conscious does not sufficiently change unconscious procedural relational knowing. With this aim the therapist must be prepared to be involved in interactions and to make clear to the patient with resonant "answers" the interpersonal effects of the means and methods with which the patient unconsciously regulates and produces relationships.
