China Zhongwang penetrates European auto market

On 8 October China Zhongwang announced a deal with Jaguar Land Rover to supply highquality extrusion products to JLR as a tier-1 supplier. Zhongwang is already a supplier for theChinese automotive and transport markets. Zhongwang was recently announced as the solealuminium supplier for new cars by Chery and CH-Auto Technology and has long been anextrusion supplier for high speed Chinese trains. However, this is the first time Zhongwanghas become a tier-1 supplier for an automotive producer outside of China, CRU believes thisto be significant. Some European suppliers of high-quality extrusions have been relaxed overincreased Chinese imports as they believed China is not a competitor in the high-end market,the new JLR deal suggests this is no longer the case. Zhongwang has also reported that itis aiming to improve its production technology through a technical exchange following itspurchase of Alunna, where it plans to expand production.
