Recent trends in ship structural and hydrodynamic analyses

In this paper, the recent trends in ship structural and hydrodynamic analyses have been discussed which includes: (i) the dynamic and long term analysis of a mini bulk carrier using a new stiffened plate element the element can accommodate any number of arbitrarily oriented stiffeners and provides a very economic global analysis of the complete ship structure with fewer elements and without any loss of accuracy; (ii) the ultimate strength analysis of a batch cover; and (iii) hydrodynamic analysis of hemisphere and Wigley bull using the software 'IRWAV3DT' the software is based on transient Green's function and is capable of taking 3D and forward speed effect.
