Prevalence of mental health disorders among patients with Parkinson's disease in the United Kingdom.

The focus of the management of Parkinson's disease (PD) has shifted away from the motor component to being directed more towards the non-motor components of the disease.1'2 Mental health issues among patients with PD have been recognised but there is a shortage of information on the prevalence rates of various mental health disorders in a large UK-based population. There is a need to quantify these data to provide the evidence on which better targeted management strategies can be based.
