Depression is a disorder of major importance in public health due to its prevalence, and the suffering, dysfunction, morbidity and economic burden it entails [1]. Antidepressant drugs are one of the cornerstones of treatment for this disorder, particularly in moderate or severe episodes [101]. One of the main problems associated with these drugs is the very extensively described medication nonadherence. Medical literature has devoted much attention to patients' poor adherence to antidepressant treatment, which has been reported to vary from 10 to 60% [2-4].
