Climate change liability: transnational law and practices

Imagine a world in which climate change policies are not mandated and enforced by an international agreement such as the Kyoto Protocol. Can a civil society, represented by its citizens or NGOs, use the national legal systems to force governments to act, e.g. to engage with policies to mitigate GHG emissions? Or can individuals who suffer harm from the consequences of global warming sue corporations that emit CO_2? This book is the first to explore these questions and provide tentative answers. Written mostly by lawyers, it contains a wealth of interesting material for many groups of readers, including academics of all disciplines who work on climate change, stakeholders such as corporations, government agencies, policy makers, legislators, and, very broadly, interested citizens all over the world.
