Biodiversity and Food-Security: Future Challenges in the Paradigm of Agriculture

摘要

This paper deals with three areas of crucial development potentials, agri-culture, biodiversity and food security. The interconnectedness of these three areas urges us to reexamine the meanings of sustainable agriculture, particularly those related socially, economically and environmentally. The practical examples presented in this paper demonstrate the potentials for promoting the community-based production systems, accommodating biodiversity into the land husbandry, as a meaningful practical strategy to address risks of food insecurity and degradation.
