摘要:
Dementia, for which there is no cure or effective treatment,is the leading cause of disability and death worldwide.Due to the high global prevalence and economic impact on families, caregivers, and communities, this condition represents one of the most significant public health challenges of our time.Dementia is an umbrella term describing a range of progressive neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease(AD),which is the most common cause of cognitive and functional impairment among older adults. The presence of misfolded protein aggregates characterizes neurodegenerative disorders(e.g.,amyloid-beta(Aβ)and tau in AD).

摘要:
See related article,pp 357-363Extensive neuronal cell death occurs during nervous system development to remove surplus, unwanted, and damaged cells. This is a highly regulated physiological process that plays a pivotal role in nervous system homeostasis and normal development. In some brain regions, more than half of the neurons are removed during normal development without interfering with the remaining cells. This gene-regulated neuronal cell deletion process is called programmed cell death(Fricker et al.,2018).

摘要:
See related article,pp 357-363Several decades have passed since programmedcell death(PCD)was identified.Apoptosis was first defined by Kerr in 1972,and later described by the Nobel Prices in Physiology or Medicine 2002,Sydney Brenner,John Sulston and Robert Horwitz, who defined genetic regulators of apoptosis(Diamantis et al.,2008).However,it was in 1858 when the German pathologist and biologist Rudolf Virchow identified for the first time the phenomenon of apoptosis, which he named necrobiosis, arguing that this form of cell death was completely different from the uncontrolled necrosis, suggesting the existence of two different types of cell death.Today, the knowledge in the field of cell death regulation is extensive, but still under continuous expansion.

摘要:
Traumatic brain injury(TBI)is a major cause of death and disability worldwide.Age-related TBI differences demonstrate the third peak of prevalence and incidence of TBI within the elderly population. This is due to the elderly being at a higher risk of sustaining falls, which have been identified as the main cause(40–50%)of TBI.

摘要:
In China, there are 544,000 sudden deaths each year.Cardiac arrest is one of the most common causes of sudden death, and 70%of cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital.[1,2]However,fewer than 1%of bystanders at cardiac arrest deaths in China are well-trained and capable of administering first aid.[3]Therefore,it is urgent to popularize first-aid knowledge in the Chinese population.

摘要:
Alzheimer's disease AD remains one of the significant causes of death and morbidity in the older population (2021).The cause of AD remains unclear despite there being numerous hypotheses.Perhaps the most widely accepted hypothesis is the amyloid cascade hypothesis which is based on the accumulation of amyloid beta (Aβ) in neurons (Dhakal et al., 2019).

摘要:
上海交通大学医学院上海市免疫学研究所李华兵研究员团队和复旦大学附属眼耳鼻喉科医院李华斌教授等团队合作在Nature Communications发表了题为DENR controls JAK2 translation to induce PD-L1 expression for tumor immune evasion的研究论文。

Introduction: Neonatal mortality is a serious problem, particularly in developing countries. Objective: To study the epidemiological and clinical profiles of newborns who died during their hospitalization in the neonatology unit of the hospital in Mali. Methodology: This was a prospective study over a 12-month period (January 1 to December 31, 2020) including all newborns aged 0 - 28 days who died during their hospitalization. Results: A total of 424 neonates were hospitalized in neonatology, 54 died, or 12.73%. Newborns aged 0 - 7 days at admission were the most represented at 79.63% and 94.4% were full-term babies. The male gender was dominant with a ratio of 1.17. The following characteristics were frequently observed in the mothers: not educated (46.3%), poor 75.9%, living in urban areas (68%), housewives 75.4%, and having had less than 4 antenatal care visits (53.7%). For babies, respiratory distress and hyperthermia were the most common reasons for hospitalization (37% and 22.2%, respectively), with 40% being resuscitated at birth. Infection and perinatal anoxia were the most frequent diagnoses, respectively 96.3% and 37%. The death occurred within the first three days of hospitalization in 60% of cases. Conclusion: In order to reduce the mortality rate in our facilities, monitoring of pregnancy and delivery, and correct management of newborns both at birth and in the pediatric wards are important.
