A data processing system is provided for determining the movement of petroleum and gas by the sedimentary basin simulation section and predicting future reservoir performance from current reservoir production measurements.A data processing system provides more accurate reservoir and fluid characteristic distributions at reservoir locations between well locations where such attributes cannot be measured.The data processing system operates based on the physical reality captured from the movement by the sedimentary basin simulation section.The data processing system is different from the conventional method in which the measured value obtained in the well is used and the method is interpolated with respect to the region between wells using a statistical method.The results from the data processing system focus more light on the discontinuities of the reservoir between wells, resulting in better distribution of hydrogen sulfide and tar zones (heavy oil) in the reservoir.The more accurate initial fluid and rock characteristics distributions in the reservoir in the reservoir model obtained using the data processing system improve the production prediction accuracy of the hydrocarbon reservoir by the reservoir simulation section.
