Methods and apparatus are provided for defect injection and defect tolerance analysis. The fault tolerance analysis device extracts design information from the design. The defect tolerance analysis device injects defects into the simulation of the design based on the extracted design information and parameters, and analyzes the effect of the defects in the simulation. The defect tolerance for the defects injected into the simulation by the defect tolerance analysis device is analyzed, and the effect of the defect tolerance mechanism provided in the design is analyzed.
