2-substd.-di:thio benzothiazole(s), useful as retarded vulcanisation accelerators - are prepd. by reacting mercapto-benzothiazole with e.g. N=cyclohexyl-di:thio:phthalimide, useful in prodn. of large elastomer moulding
2-alk(en)yl-, alkynyl-, cyclo(hetero)alkyl or (het)aryl-dithio-benzothiazoles of formula (I) are new, where X = aliphatic 1-5C alk(en)yl or alkynyl gp. or a cycloaliphatic or aromatic gp. with not 7 C or opt. heteroatoms, excluding the morpholino gp. 2-(cyclohexyldithio)-benzothiazole (CDB) (I: X = cyclohexyl) was prepd. by reacting an equimolar mixt. of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole and N-(cyclohexylthio)phthalimide (CTP) in 200 ml THF at room temp. The resultant phthalimide crystals were sepd., leaving CDB as an oil, in 95% yield.
