Naturally occurring composition for controlling postharvest diseases of fruit and vegetables and method of application. The composition contains a consistent essential active ingredient in association thymol, eugenol and cinnamaldehyde, a secondary active ingredient consisting of the association of Cuminaldebido, geraniol, vanillin, borneol, menthol, anethole, terpineol, limonene and different glycosides contained in the essences of mustard and jasmine, a surfactant selected from different families accepted as emulsifying food additives and an oligosaccharide selected among the Mano-oligosaccharides, fructooligosaccharides, Fico-ofigosacáridos from algae extract or plant tissue. The composition just described is applied to fruit and vegetables in dilute or bath in solid form incorporated into the waxes that are commonly used in post-harvest treatments.
