PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively and easily eliminating arsenic in the soil contaminated by arsenic.;SOLUTION: Bacillus spp. SF-1 strain (FERM P-15431) can reduce arsenic acid to arsenious acid and solubilize the arsenic. A bioremediation process for the soil contaminated by arsenic is constructed by using the strain, and the arsenic is easily eliminated in low cost. The SF-1 strain changes the arsenic acid into soluble arsenious acid therefore the soil contaminated by arsenic can be washed by water and the concentration of the arsenic is decreased.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
