The bed is fluidized and swirled by a pulse tube (2) penetrating to a given depth in the bed (1). This introduces pressurized gas in pulses. The resulting fluidization is suitable for processing. The fluidization vessel has a conical base and is closed at the top. It includes gas outlet openings (12) permitting controlled discharge, with increased pressure in the vessel. Various components are built into the vessel, e.g. guide tubes and baffles (13) or static mixers. The lower end (3) of the pulse tube has a smooth or coronated edge. Several pulse tubes are used. They are also introduced from the side, low in the vessel. The pressurize gas pulsator comprises a system of controlled solenoid valves (9) in the inlet and outlet paths of the pulsed gas (7, 8) An independent claim is included for the corresponding method.
