The method involves presenting an operational mode for positioning a defined marking in a surrounding by a driver. A drive target position is marked using the defined marking. A target position is identified based on the position of the marking. An environment detecting sensor such as two-dimensional camera, three dimensional camera, laser scanner, radar and ultrasonic sensors is used for identifying the marking and the target position.
