Cultivating algae, comprises: (a) inoculating a digested and sterilized nutrient solution (3) with an algal culture; (b) subjecting the algae in the nutrient solution to a light phase; (c) subjecting the algae in the nutrient solution to a dark phase; (d) separating the algae-rich nutrient solution (41); (e) adding the separated suspension (28) of the digested and sterilized nutrient solution again; and (f) discharging a separated algae concentrate from the process.
