PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the elastic constant of a liquid crystal composition for accurately measuring the twist elastic constant (K) of an n-type liquid crystal composition.SOLUTION: An elastic constant measuring device 1 comprises: a cell 2 including electrodes and two substrates that face with each other and sandwich a liquid crystal composition; voltage application means 3 that applies any voltage between the electrodes; measuring means 4 that measures the capacitance (C) of the cells filled with the liquid crystal composition while the voltage is applied between the electrodes; means 5 that measures a threshold voltage (Vth) from the capacitance (C) measured by the measuring means 4; and elastic constant determination means 6 that determines the twist elastic constant (K) of the liquid crystal composition. The elastic constant measuring device measures the elastic constant of the liquid crystal composition by using these means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
