Disclosed are an industry recognition model determination method and apparatus. The method comprises: firstly, acquiring a sample merchant, the industry type of which has been determined (S101); extracting, by means of a pre-defined data extraction policy and from a transaction information set, industry feature data for describing a business form of an industry to which the sample merchant belongs (S103); and training, by means of the industry feature data, a recognition model for recognizing the industry of a merchant (S104). Therefore, an industry to which a merchant belongs can be determined by using a recognition model and by means of recognizing industry features, and compared with summarizing word-bank-based screening policies, a merchant of a fake industry type cannot avoid the recognition of industry features in the method.
