摘要

The general objective of this program was to apply liquid surface acoustical holography to image the cardiovascular system. Feedback from clinical studies using normal and diseased patients contributed to engineering revisions in the system to obtain better images. The system provides real-time acoustical images and displays them on video monitors. Cardiovascular disorders imaged were arteriosclerosis, phlebitis, hemangiomas, hematomas, aneurysms and varicosities. Cardiac motion was observed. Images still contain excess soft tissue information which distracts from the data. System acoustical noise adds another degree of clutter to the picture. Direction for eliminating the distracting system noise and reducing soft-tissue information not contributing to the diagnostic value of the image is presented.
