摘要

An anelastic strain recovery technique is presented as a method of determining the directions and magnitude of the principal in-situ stresses from oriented cores from deep wells. For one deep gas well in the Piceance Creek Basin, 46 of the 55 cores that were instrumented showed some measurable anelastic strain relief. Similar results were found for oriented cores from other deep wells. (ERA citation 08:001667)
