Glyphosate: production, pricing and use worldwide

Glyphosate herbicide is the largest-selling single crop-protection chemical product in the market today. This non-selective weedkiller was initially targeted at the non-crop areas in agriculture and for industrial applications but, with the continuing development of minimum- and no-tillage agricultural practices, glyphosate also found usage in a number of crop outlets. Most recently, glyphosate has found direct crop usage on plant varieties that have been genetically modified to be tolerant of glyphosate applications. Such has been the continuing success of the product that its annual volume consumption growth has averaged in excess of 20% in recent years in agricultural use.
