Normal admission ECG in acute myocardial infarction patients Impact of a normal or non-specific ECG on admission on the treatment and early outcome of patients with myocardial infarction in Swiss hospitals between 2003 and 2008

The present study aimed to examine clinical or demographic features of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients presenting with or without ECG changes and to assess the impact of these ECGs on their treatment and outcome.AMI patients with normal ECGs on admission didn't present with main feature differences but had a lower crude mortality rate and developed cardio-genic shock less frequently during their hospitalisa-tion, despite a less intensive treatment compared to AMI patients with ECG changes on admission. Nevertheless, re-infarctions and cerebrovascular events occurred evenly in all AMI patients, regardless of their admission ECG.
