Methods of preparation and studies of the properties of the first polymer composites using (BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(SCN)(2) (BEDT-TTF=bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene as a conductive phase are reported. It is shown that a network of a conductive (BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(SCN)(2) salt can be obtained. However, besides superconducting kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(SCN)(2) at least two other salts which comprise Cu(SCN)(2)(-) are known: alpha-phase and (BEDT-TTF)Cu-2(SCN)(3). Scanning elect-on microscopy (SEM) micrographs and X-ray diffractograms have shown that, although by chemical oxidation the kappa-phase is usually obtained, in the composite films the additive crystallization leads mostly to alpha-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(SCN)(2).
