Towards novel TTF systems bearing pendant and annelated aryl substituents

A series of triaryl annelated 1,3-dithiole-2-thione species have been prepared; these derivatives are efficient #pi#-electron donors affording radical cation and dication species in the range 0.86-1.57 V.
