The celebrations at SRO was held jointly with Institute of Standards Engineers (SEI, Chennai Section) at Breeze Hotel. Presided by Shri V. Kalyanasundaram, DDGS, it was attended by several participants; apart from BIS employees, members of SEI, BIS licensees, retired employees of BIS and representatives from consumer organizations. In his presidential address, Shri V. Kalyanasundaram presented the Theme Paper. He gave a detailed presentation on the use of information and communication technology in the areas of education, health, employment, space technology and e-Governance. He also threw light on the standardization efforts made in the field of Information Technology, and shared the information on important standards for language scripts, Smart Cards Devices and communication protocols.
