MINUTES OF THE FIRST MEETING OF THE RECONSTITUTED STEERING COMMITTEE ON CASHEW HELD ON 8TH JULY, 2008 AT 4.00 PM UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF SECRETARY (A & C)

The first meeting of the reconstituted Steering Committee on Cashew was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. P.K. Mishra, Secretary (A&C) at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi on the 8th July, 2008. Dr. ML. Choudhary, Horticulture Commissioner, welcomed all the members of the Steering Committee and invited suggestions from the members on a strategy for cashew development, so that domestic production could be enhanced to meet the demand of the domestic industry as well as to sustain the country's position in theinternational trade of cashew. Thereafter, Dr. P.K. Mishra, Secretary (A&C) also stressed on the need to focus on end-to-end project proposals in order to sort out the issues involved in the development of cashew in India. Later, Shri Venkatesh N. Hubbali, Director, DCCD presented the action taken report of the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting on Cashew and also briefly explained details of the agenda of me meeting. Subsequently, agenda wise discussion was taken up by the members.
