EFFICACY OF BOTANICALS AGAINST HELOPELTIS AATOM/SIGN. (MIRIDIAE; HEMIPTERA) INFESTING CASHEW

The efficacy of various plant extracts, and commercial formulations was evaluated against the tea mosquito bug Helopeltis antonii Sig. Infesting cashew (Anacardium occidentals L.) Plant products viz. neem oil (5%), Annona seed extract (commercial formulation of M/s. Godrej Ltd.) (5%), cotton seed oil (5%), Butea frondosoa leaf extract (5%), Adathoda vasica leaf extract (5%), pongamia oil suspension (6%), pongamia oil suspension 2% and 4% (in lime solution), Caryophyllum oil (5%), Vitex renundo leaf extract (5%), Thevatia nereifolia leaf extract (5%), tobacco decoction (lOOg boiled in 3 It of water), Strychnous nuxvomica leaf extract (5%) and fruit extract (5%) and pongamia solvent extract (5%); three commercial formulations, viz., RAZE-Palmarosa oil(0.5%), Limanool (1.0%) and Nimbecidine (1%) were evaluated for their efficacy in inducing pest mortality after 12 hours and damage score (after 48 hours of treatment) in comparison to monocrotophos (0.05%), endosulfan (0.05%) and carbaryl (0.1%), which are recommended pesticides for managing the 1MB.
