摘要

A review of works carried out at the Department of Materials Sciences in Machine Building in two directions - high-damping alloys and shape memory alloys - is given. It is shown that the department is one of the founders of the first direction, with respect to which methods for determining the damping ability, which gained recognition, were developed and fundamental investigations of the damping ability in iron-, titanium-, and copper-based alloys were carried out. With respect to the second direction, a system of service characteristics of alloys needed for engineering calculations when designing drives with power elements made of shape memory alloys was developed.
