The Role of Dissolved Organic Matter in the Photo-Production of Dissolved Gaseous Mercury in Artificial and Natural Seawater Systems

Experiments on DGM production in a culture of the marine diatom Chaetoceros sp. and in seawater and lagoon water under illumination show the important role of the biogenic dissolved organic matter in the photo-reduction processes of Hg~(2+).
