Effect of tree litter biomass and mechanical management in oats

摘要

The present investigation was carried out at Jhansi for two years 2005-07. The germination of oats was significantly affected due to tractor tillage as well as residues treatments. Maximum germination was recorded in one pass of cultivator + one passof rotavator (74.83) followed by disc harrow (three pass) 72.83%, one pass of MB plough + two pass of cultivator (69.50%) and least in cultivator i.e. (68.91%). The green and dry fodder production was also influenced due to different treatments of tractor tillage as well as bio-residues of trees. Maximum green as well as dry fodder of oats was recorded in MB plough + cultivator treatment (421 q green and 105 q/ha dry fodder) followed by three pass of cultivator (416 q green and 100 q dry fodder), disc harrow (400 q green and 95 q/ha dry fodder) and least yield was recorded in the combination of one pass of cultivator + two pass of rotavator i.e. 390 q green and 94 q dry fodder production.
