IEPRODUCTIVE BIOLOGY OF NEEM (AZADIRACHTA INDICA A. JUSS)

Neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss), a member of the family Meliaoeae, is a native of Indian subcontinent and is widely grown in about 70 per cent land area of India. In recent time, neem is getting much attention as a economic tree due to growing use of neem products at global level in agriculture, medicines, cosmetics and animal health care. Studies on pollen dehiscence time, flower anthesis, pollen germination, fruit setting in selfed and open pollinated flowers and progenies performance of selfed and open pollinated seeds indicated that neem may be a self pollinated tree species.
