摘要

Present paper describes species composition, net primary production and soil properties of protected and grazed grasslands at Udaipur. Dominance index was found to be negatively correlated to diversity index. Net primary production greatly declined in grazed site due to grazing pressure. The tumonver time was more rapid in grazed site. Silt and clay particles, water homing capacity, porosity, moisture, nitrogen, potassium, calcium and available phosphorous contents of the soil increased under protected conditions, while particle density, bulk density, sand particles, organic carbon, pH, total soluble salts and sodium contents of the soil increased under grazed condition.
