The epigeal faunal diversity in agrisilvicultural and silvipastoral fields - a case study.

The epigeal predator fauna was sampled using pitfall traps and the biodiversity was assessed using various biodiversity indices. The number of insects trapped did not differ significantly in the agroforestry and silvipasture plots of Emblica, Ceiba and Ailanthus but differed in the species composition. The dominant carabid found in the agroforestry plots was Chlaenius lafertei. In July, the ground beetle density ranged from 28 to 33 among the various plots, the maximum being in Ceiba plot and minimum being in Ailanthus plot both associated with annual crop. The species richness was highest in the Ceiba plots (14 and 11) associated with annual crop and pasture..
