Manufacturing of agricultural implements in NEH region of India - present scenario.

摘要

This study investigated the current status of manufacturing of agricultural implements in north-eastern region of India. Detailed data on manpower and ownership, facilities, production process and raw materials used, as well as finance and marketing were given. Analysis revealed that the status of manufacturing of agricultural tools and implements in NE states is very low. There are only few workshops in Assam and Manipur that are fabricating power operated improved agricultural machineries. Most of the units are old and traditional and the production is basically of seasonal items. The ignorance of farmers about improved tools and machinery, lack of trained and skilled manpower, less education, very poor infrastructure facilities, and less financial support from government are the main reasons for its low status.
