Phenotypic variation among different species of genus Trifolium.

An experiment was conducted on 21 accessions representing Trifolium alexandrinum, T. pratense, T. echinatum, T. compestre [T. campestre], T. apertum, T. angustifolium, T. spumosum, T. arvense, T. diffusum, T. grandiflorum, T. hirtum, T. constantipolitanum and T. vesiculosum to estimate the phenotypic variations within and between different Trifolium species and ecotypes of T. alexandrinum. There was a wide range of morphological variation in the different species and ecotypes. Euclidian clustering based on morphological data revealed 2 major clusters and 5 subclusters. Overall, there was a minimum of 3.19 distance between BB-3 and T. grandiflorum.
