Morphometric analysis of some Poaceae and Cyperaceae members from Unjha Taluka.

A study on the morphological characters of some Poaceae and Cyperaceae members from Unjha Taluka, Mehsana, North Gujarat, India, was conducted. The members of the Poaceae are greater in height than the Cyperaceae. Among Poaceae, Panicum trypheron exhibited maximum plant height (70-80 cm). The highest leaf length (33 cm) and inflorescence length (20-25 cm) was recorded for Panicum colonum [Echinochloa colona] while Digitaria ciliaris had the highest spike length. For Cyperaceae, the maximum values for plant height, leaf length and inflorescence length were recorded in Cyperus corymbosus [Cyperus articulatus].
