Performance of Tharparkar cattle under organic and inorganic feeding systems.

A total of 12 Tharparkar cows were equally distributed into organic and inorganic feeding system to evaluate their performance. Health care of animal was also determined as per recommendation for the system. The average weight at birth, 3 months, 6 months and 24 months old were 21.38, 52.66, 75.70 and 237.61 kg, respectively. Age of maturity and first conception were 30.30 and 30.91 months, respectively, and body weight after maturity differs between the system due to positive conceptions. Feed intake (% BW) varied between 2.24-2.26% of body weight and it was significantly higher in organic system in metabolic body size of animal. Peak yield of animal varied between 9.0-9.5 litre/day in their first lactation. The result of organic feeding was found encouraging in long term feeding processes.
