Biomass structure and production at Kaimason hill, Jhansi.

This study was conducted in 2006 to investigate the biomass structure and production of a semi-natural grassland at Kaimason hill, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India. A total of 19 species were recorded in the quadrates during February to July 2006. Cynodon dactylon was recorded in all the quadrates. In February, the density of C. dactylon was recorded at higher hill and Lantana in lower hill. Plant growth was active in the month of July. Maximum above ground biomass (AGB) of 77.82 g/m2 was recorded in mid-July and minimum AGB (21.63 g/m2) was recorded in the last week of April 2006. The maximum below ground biomass (BGB) of 38.96 g/m2 was recorded in mid-July and minimum (14.63 g/m2) was recorded on 30 April.
